6 Quick Wins to Enhance Curb Appeal, without Breaking the Bank

Maybe you are thinking of selling, or maybe you just want to spruce things up for your own enjoyment! Read on for 6 doable improvements that will make a huge impact on your home's curb appeal, without breaking the bank!

1. Cut Back Overgrown Trees and Plants

Keeping trees pruned is not only important for safety reasons, but this task will also keep your home looking neat and tidy. Get rid of any weeds in your flower beds or around walkways, etc. In the absence of anything else, this is number #1 for presenting your home as well taken care of and loved! PRO TIP: Without a budget for extensive landscaping, you can take this a step further by placing container flowers in your beds or within the ground cover for an instant pop of color and freshness.

2. Go Green

Inspect your lawn for brown spots and patches and replace these areas with fresh sod of the same kind to show a green and loved lawn. Keep up your mowing, weeding, and edging for a pristine, even-length look all over.

3. Makeover the Mailbox

Your mailbox is street-side and thus often responsible for a large part of the first impression. Assess your current mailbox ~ does it need a fresh coat of paint? Does it need replacing with a more modern style? Maybe it just needs to be straightened and reset. (A crooked mailbox is cringy!) Give your box the love it needs! PRO TIP: Adding a decorative border, creating a small box around your mailbox can provide you with a quick and easy container to add (and easily change out) potted flowers, herbs, and other greenery to make your mailbox luxe and lavish!

4. Dress up the Driveway

Don't underestimate the impact of the driveway. The look of the driveway can set the tone for a home seeming aged and unloved vs. vibrant and welcoming. Pressure wash that baby! Even if pressure washing isn't one of your favorite things to do (as it is for me!), take the time to give your driveway a good cleaning to make it show shiny and new. It will make a world of difference - one you'll be proud of! Be sure to pull and kill any weeds peaking up through the cracks in your driveway. PRO TIP: To take it up a notch, consider adding a decorative border on the sides of the driveway to widen and impress!

5. Upgrade those House Numbers

Adding new house numbers is an easy and inexpensive way to give your a home a modern and striking look. Make sure the numbers are easily viewable from the street, avoiding frustration from not only the Amazon delivery guy, but the potential buyer that is driving by seeking your address. Choose a size and style that complements your home's architecture for the greatest impact.

6. Make a Grand Entry!

Let's spruce up that front entryway! Repainting your front door can make a drastic difference in that first impression to potential buyers driving by.

A little pop of color can draw in the eye and add character to any home! There are many sites that can help you choose the right color for your home and your style. You can even take a quiz to get you started. Additionally, consider upgrading your front door's hardware. Can you add a bit more style with the door's lock and knob? You might even consider adding a keyless entry. Keyless entry pads are convenient and modern and can easily be self-installed for less than $200. I recently added one myself and was pleasantly surprised as to how easy it was! Finally, give your entry some ambience. Is there space to add a seating area? If so, add a seating area to make the entry warm and inviting. You can even source some affordable seating options on your local Facebook Marketplace. My favorite front porch in our neighborhood has a seating area with a side table and even a lamp! If there's no room for a seating area, adding a welcome sign, a wreath, some plants, or other personal decor items can achieve the same warm, inviting ambience that will show visitors the coziness the home has to offer. PRO TIP: While adding decor, be sure to avoid a cluttered look. Adding "just enough" is key to achieving the appeal.

Enjoy these quick tips for showing your home some TLC while achieving an impactful end result that will make your home the envy of the neighborhood!
